Either of these things are great for 12 year olds
1. Ipod, these things are amazing definetly give it if she loves music.
2. Cell phone, i dont know if you can get your neice one of these,but if you cant you can buy them a Go Phone and some extra minutes.
3. Clothes, you know that everyone hates clothes for there birthday,but girls usually love getting clothes. hoodies and jackets are really in style.

It depends on her is she an immature 12 or a mature 12? I was always old for me age and would've been appalled at receiving toys. Gift Certificates are good that way she can choose what she likes., However, spending a day with you might be fun....shopping, lunch, movie...books are always good, if you know what she likes, otherwise gift certificates..
I'd take her horseback riding, but that is where I was when I was 12. Horse crazy then, and horse crazy now.

ya if she has an ipod an itunes giftcard would be cool and you can get $10 $20 $50 maybe even $100 but if she dosnt if she doesnt have one already a nintendo DS you can get one for like $150 new and $120 used they have them in pink if you think thats what she wantsi think i got mine when i was like 10 and theres 1000s of games that new are around $35 used $15-$25 depending on condition its in hope this helps
