If Someone Was To Remove The Red/Orange Tip From A Toy Gun Will He Get Into Legal Trouble?

I have seen some children and young people remove the red/orange tips off the tip of the barrel of their toy gun or airsoft guns, they thought it was cool. I heard a rumor somewhere that doing this is illegal, is this true?If Someone Was To Remove The Red/Orange Tip From A Toy Gun Will He Get Into Legal Trouble?
I agree with Matt on this one, but do believe that our dear sweet state of California has a law on the books about non lethal guns having to be Flo Green Or Orange. I could be wrong but do infact remember reading that somewhere just recently..If Someone Was To Remove The Red/Orange Tip From A Toy Gun Will He Get Into Legal Trouble?
It may be illegal in some states. For the most part I wouldn't worry about it being illegal, the concern is that someone may mistake it for a real gun and actually shoot the person with a toy gun. The person firing at him may not actually get into any trouble, even if the victim died, because it may still be considered self defense. It is illegal, and by law it must be sold with the orange tip.
not sure about the illegal part I did it when i was younger
