There used to be a toy when I was little called a "Talk Boy" (used in Home Alone and Home Alone 2 when he was recording his uncle in the shower). It looked like a walkman with a plastic stick attatched that you talk into and it records your voice.
In the commercial, the boy has it and is spying on his sister and her friend, recording what they say. The sister turns around and gets mad. It then shows him sitting on the couch next to her replaying what her and her friend had said and she tries to take it from him and he tells her it's not for girls.
Interestingly enough, the came out with a "Talk Girl" about a year later.
