Depends on the dog. Rawhides are good but so is furniture. spray the furniture with a chew deterrent like Bitter Apple and supervise the dog. If the dog has to be left alone, confine him away form the furniture.

Dogs do like to chew but maybe part of the problem is that the dog has energy he is not expending. If that's the case, dogs will find ways to expend energy like chewing on things, digging holes, etc.

Taking the dog on 2 walks a day is really a necessity for all dogs.

15-20 minutes in the morning, more if you can and the same or more in the evening.

This alone may cure the chewing problem.



I have found that the large white/beige rawhide knotted bones last a long time and most dogs like to chew on them. If the dog is big, get a big one, if he's small get a small enough bone that he can get his mouth around it.
