Hi fellow seniors, did any of you have a favourite toy and do you still have it?

My favourite was my first little red tricycle, I still remember it and have photo's of me on it.

Sadly it's gone the way of all good things.

I do still have my much loved teddy bear which was bought for my actual birth so yes it's tired and dogeared now a bit like it's owner but still treasured.

So did or do you have a special toy that you can fondly recollect?Hi fellow seniors, did any of you have a favourite toy and do you still have it?
"Santa" gave me one of those little oven things that had real food that you mixed up and made. I loved that.

Another year, Santa brought a little sewing machine that actually did work...not quite as well as my mother's sewing machine....but enough for me to make some doll clothes with.

Don't still have them....but remember them with great fondness.

I have a little brother who was born with a great many learning and physical problems .... he is 39 years old. When he was about two ( I was a full-grown adult) I bought him a "Grover" stuffed animal which he loved. The thing was long %26amp; skinny and perfect for a small child to clutch onto. Grover went with my little brother to the hospital for all the surgeries, and Grover slept with my little brother every night.

Grover has been washed, repaired, recovered, recovered, recovered a million times. My little brother still sleeps with Grover every night, and the border collie who watches over my little brother as though he is her child will go to my little brother's bedroom and fetch Grover if my brother is in some other part of the house and becomes distressed. The dog just goes in and gets Grover, and brings Grover to my brother.

@Thanks to the person who reminded us of TINKER TOYS!!! I LOVED them and so did my brothers and sisters. Mama hated them....somehow they always got all over the house and broke the vacuum cleaner more than once when the ones we'd missed picking up because they were under a chair or something %26amp; partially hidden from view got sucked into the vacuum cleaner.

We liked LEGOS (sp?) even better.....gosh I still like legos and tinker toys %26amp; would probably play with them if I had them.
I had two favorite toys that I don't have any more, and one that I do still have.

My favorite toy was a "working" washing machine that I got when I was four from Santa Clause the night he, a believably dressed up neighbor, visited our house. It could really hold water, and had a crank on the side that made the agitator agitate, and one on the wringer that made the wringer work. It was off-white with red trim. "Just like Mommy's". It got stolen when someone broke into our house when I was a teenager.

The other equally loved toy was a doll I got on my first Christmas. It was a rubber baby doll with molded hair and a hole in it's mouth and behind. The doll could drink from a bottle and wet. They make a lot of these now, but mine was new and state of the art at the time. When we were about 18, Jackie's rubber finally rotted and he died.

I have a Scootles doll still that my Grand Dad gave me for my first Christmas.Hi fellow seniors, did any of you have a favourite toy and do you still have it?
My grandfather gave me a camera tripod when I was 14. That was 60 years ago and I still enjoy using it. After I was married I would set the babies on the floor, put the tripod over them with toys hanging from a string for them to play with. I did it with the grand kids, and now it's the great grandkids. They all love my tripod. My oldest son is 55, and he wants my tripod because he can remember it from when he was a baby.
I don't have much of anything from my childhood, but I loved playing with TinkerToys and recently bought some for my grandsons, who had a ball with them. We are keeping them here. But, a few days ago Ed saw his grandson for the first time in a few years, he's about 10 and his eyes lit up when Ed mentioned the TinkerToys, so I think I'll be making another purchase soon. LOL.Hi fellow seniors, did any of you have a favourite toy and do you still have it?
Yes, I still have my teddy bear that was a hand me down from my older brother.(probably 70 years old)

It's pretty big %26amp; growls when you bend it. My grandkids never liked him so he's sitting in my studio waiting for a new fur coat! I've just never been able to find a suitable fabric.

When we came to the US the English packers had dressed the teddy up in baby clothes. It was such a thoughtful gesture, although it made me cry. That was 30 years ago %26amp; I still have those clothes on him.
My mum gave me a Sad Sam (toy stuffed dog) when i was 5 or 6 and i slept with him every night. Ive still got him to this day over 30 years later ....but sadly a few years ago my labrador, a puppy at the time, got hold of Sad Sam and took a fancy to him. He got humped and then had his ear chewed off. Now he's Very Very Sad Sam :o( .....but i still kept hold of him, gave him a clean up, he's just minus an ear now.
My first "serious" baseball glove when I made the 9 year old team.Yes I still have it.Thank you for the reminder.I will spray this with some leather restorer. That was 49 years ago.

Congratulations for keeping your teddy bear.Get some enzyme cleaner. That will bring the bear out of hibernation.
When I was a kid I loved these dolls called flatsy dolls, they were made in America but my local toy shop used to stock them - none of my friends had ever heard of them! Anyhow I gave them all away as I grew up but last year I bought a couple on ebay just to reminisce, it was wonderful to see them again!
I too have my teddy bear. It is over 70 years old as it belonged to my cousin first, then handed down to my older sister then on to me.

It is almost threadbare and his head is tied on with string and the tummy squeaker hasn't worked for many years, but I wouldn't part with him.
I kept some of my Barbie Dolls, that about it My daughter has the rest of them and some of her own she kept, and we both keep ours in the Hope Chest..=)
Rosebud my doll, one day it was found by my two brothers, her head had been smashed, my brothers had been carrying on, and it could not be repaired.
A very soft stuffed elephant! And yes, I have one now, probably a great grandchild of the first, and many down the line until this one. I think he will endure.
I had Four, 1) Lincoln Logs

2) tinker Toys

3) Gilbert Chemistry set

4) Erector set
The only toys I had were a doll and her pram, when I left home they were broken up and thrown out. However, I do still have my treasured books which left with me.
Sorry to say, no. I came from a big family and a stepmother who resented us, but I have good memories of certain toys.
My favorite toy was the bike I got for Christmas 1963, when I was 9. I still have it. It's about 10 feet away from me, even as I type this.
Papper dolls; and a child's iron and ironing board.

Do not have any of the old toys.
My favorite was paper dolls, don't have them anymore.
Yes I still have my Teddy Bear and my husband still has his.
Toddles the doll
My late father was in the Royal Navy and he brought me some lovely gifts from overseas over the years but the one thing that I treasured was a Koala Bear that I named Snuggles. I think I was around the age of 7 when I got it.

When I was in my early twenties I lived in a flat in Bradford and when I got burgled Snuggles was taken along with the other stuff that got stolen. I wasn't bothered about losing my hi-fi and tv but I was desperately sad at the loss of Snuggles and couldn't understand why he was taken because he wouldn't have meant the same to anyone else as he did me.

I'd taken him overseas when I was working as a Nanny and he'd brought a lot of joy to all the children I'd looked after when I was a Nanny. I told myself that he'd gone to a child who loved him as much as I did, whether that's true or not it brought comfort to me.

I also had a black dolly called Susie that got lost when I was 11 and my family moved from the South of England up to Paisley in Scotland. I couldn't believe she was missing and cried for days afterwards. When I was older I did wonder if The Mother had decided I was too old for dollies and she'd thrown Susie away (God forbid!) or she'd given her to one of my cousins without my knowledge.
