What is the angle and tension of the toy airplane?

A 0.075 kg toy airplane is tied to the ceiling with a string. When the airplane's motor is started it moves with a constant speed of 1.23 m/s in a horizontal circle of radius 0.41 m. Find the angle the string makes with the vertical and the tension in the string.

__degrees?

__Newtons?What is the angle and tension of the toy airplane?
centripetal force = mv^2/r

force due to gravity = mg

Let angle be 'a', then: tan(a) = (mv^2/r)/mg

=%26gt; tan(a) = v^2/r*g

calc angle from above eq.

Total force on string = sqrt ( (mv^2/r)^2 + (mg)^2) )

calc force from this eqn., this equals tension in the string..
