my toy poodle only eats wet dog food, i've tried dry food many times and he wont go near it. The only thing he likes is cesar and sometimes if i mix in kibbles and bits he'll eat it...what can I cook for him thats will be healthy and beneficial, i heard boiled eggs are good, and chicken with rice but i dont want him getting overweightWhat homecooked foods can i make for my toy poodle?
I recently "babysat" 2 little toy poodles, and they too like cooked food. I had to cook them 93/7 ground beef with rice. They chowed down. However they also like Mighty Dog canned food.
I myself have 2 dogs, they like pasta with 93/7 ground beef, stew meat, and they LOVE liver, but, I MAKE a pound of liver last 2-3 days now, or they will eat liver like there is no tomorrow. None of these dogs will eat dry food. I think they are all spoiled rotten. One of my dogs is a Siberian Husky and he loves to talk.. He will not shut up, til I go in the kitchen and start cooking....
All of the dog foods say they use real meat, but I have tried them all and mine just will not eat the dog food. I have talked to my Vet about it and he says "Hey if you'll cook for them can you blame them, would you want to eat dog food? So, when I hear a recall and all the negative I never worry. Mine eat, what I cook for them.
I would use leaner meats and if you do fix liver, not too much at one time. And mine like a little ice cream too. They are in excellent health and not overweight. They are getting all the vitamins, calcium and protein. They are happy ad healthy.
Chicken and rice won't make him overweight. Why don't you ask your vet? There has to be a good recipe bookWhat homecooked foods can i make for my toy poodle?
you can buy those cans of wet dog food and mix a little bit of the dry with the wet, works great of my dog.. she wouldn't touch the dry stuff either you can mash it up or get the ones with the juice and mix it really well...
First off dont give your dog wet food all the time. It is not good for their health to be eating human like food all the time. If you are looking for more ideas as far as wet dog food you can use your left overs and puree it like baby food and give that to him. Sounds gross but its the same kinda stuff. And you can add all kinds of goodies in their like veggies and rice and if he is on meds later this is an easy way to incorporate everything. Hope this helps. What homecooked foods can i make for my toy poodle?
My daughter cooks her dogs meals, from a mix of rice, minced chicken, mixed vegetables(bought in a pack at Woolworth Supermarkets) The dogs love it.
Chicken and rice are a good good for dogs, I dont know about boiled eggs though I have never heard of that. My vet told me once to cook up some ground beef and mix it with rice as well. Those kinds of meals are really easy on the digestive system, I feed it to my dogs especially when they are not feeling well. Feeding them simply cooked chicken or hamburger will also not cause them to poop as much.
tsk, tsk, tsk, you shoudlve posted this in the PETS category.
