What is the best chew toy for golden retrivers?

I've gotten my 2yr old golden retriver plenty of chew toys, but he still chews on other things socks, shoes, and anything else he can find thats in his reach.I love him with all my heart but this has to stop. I am working on getting him to obedience school but right now it's too expensive for me. So what do you suggest I do in the mean time? What is the best chew toy for golden retrivers?
get him something that he likes to play with. my dog loves sqeaky toys.
i have a retriever and have discovered their favorite chew toys are smaller dogs and catsWhat is the best chew toy for golden retrivers?
do you reprimand him? I understand that what you should do is take away whatever he's chewing, firmly say "No!" and immediately replace it with a toy that he is allowed to chew on. I dont' think it's a matter of him not having good toys, it's probably a matter of the discipline. My dogs love to eat bones.....that keeps them pretty distracted from getting into trouble.
look for a toy called a "Molecule Ball".. they're awesome! you put dry dog food inside it and they chew it and bat it around as they work to get the food out. Our dog loves it!What is the best chew toy for golden retrivers?
Goldens are wonderful, but they are notorious for chewing on everything including their chew toys. My recommendation is that you keep everything out of their reach. Don't make temptation available to them. They are curious and they don't discern between what's yours and what's theirs if its left in their reach.

What you can do is take a rolled up piece of newspaper and pop them with the item they chewed up in their face. Say 'No!' firmly and let them know they were wrong. Then, replace the item they chewed with one of their chew toys and show them love when you give them the chew toy. Re-inforce their chew toys by handing them the toy to play with. Quickly remove anything from their mouth they shouldn't chew, scold them and replace it with the toy, give them a treat, some kisses and pats on the head and you will see that positive re-enforcement begin to pay off
I have one and we sometimes get her pig ears. She likes those.
Buy a muzzle.
Thick rawhide bones. The ones with basted on flavor. My baby girl loves to chew on them too...she's teething, lol.
buy it a kitten

my dog found them quite chewy
Try one of those cone shaped "Kong" toys - my dogs love those things, or a cheaper option is a tennis ball...
your favorite pair of shoes, buy kids shoes if you dont have any or fuzzy slippers with a character face on it, like bunny slippers,so puppy will know if I eat shoes that are not tiny or a silly face with fur, I am in big trouble, this worked for one of my dads dumb dogs
Chewing (yes Golden Retriever puppies will do this if you let them !!)

Chewing on "contraband" such a shoes, baseboards, etc., etc., is going to happen with your new golden retriever. What won't happen, if you do the right things, is your golden retriever puppy won't renovate your house. When puppy is chewing contraband say "no" firmly and replace the contraband with a toy that belongs to puppy. Rope toys are great as you can wet them and put them in the freezer for an instant teething ring. Once you give your golden retriever puppy an appropriate toy to chew on, praise the pup for taking it. Most importantly, don't leave your golden retriever puppy unattended outside of it's crate. When golden retrievers are young they chew out of curiosity or teething. When not allowed to develop this habit, they will not grow up to be destructo-dogs.
My lab did the same thing. I bought her receiver rolls ( raw hide rolls) and tennis balls. My vet recommended the tennis balls. Lucy loves them. They keep her happy and the receiver rolls keep her from chewing everything else. good luck!
When he is chewing on something innapropriate, give him a chew toy. The second time, adminish him and then give the chew toy and tell him he is good if he plays with the toy. The third time, you should probably punish him, and then give him his chew toy. He'll get the message.
If you have the time, and a little money (not obedience school type of money) you could try a training collar. It has audible and correction (shock) buttons on it. I use one on my Golden for corrections to leaving the yard, eating rabbitt poo, etc. He's so full of energy and wants to play/chew with everything in site too. Just give a little beep or shock (and mind you, there's 4 levels on mine, #1 and #2 I can easily do to myself with no pain involved at all, it's just an attention-getter) when he's chewing on something unacceptable and he will soon learn.

When you're not around him, you'll have to get things out of his reach til he's trained. He'll continue to chew on the bad stuff as long as they're around no matter how many other toys you get him. Good luck!.
I would say anything that is non rawhide. They cause damage to the digestive tracks of larger dogs. Get them the new soft rubber and almost indestructible toys. They can be purchased at ant pet smart. I have Bullies who chew and chew these toys have saved me money and time, because they don't break appart for months.
Your shoes...lol..lol
