What is the quietest dog of the toy breeds (small dogs)?

I am getting a new puppy soon and I'm torn between a few different breeds. I want a dog under 10 lbs that is relatively quiet (not a big yapper). I know it's hard to find in a toy breeds. Give me some ideas on some great dogs that would do ideally in an apartment, by themself while I'm at work for a few hours and will not bother the neighbors with loud barking constantly while I'm away.What is the quietest dog of the toy breeds (small dogs)?
There is a dog that physically can't really bark...supposedly,it can make noise,but not bark.I've never heard it before,but it may be worth checking out.it's called a basenji,but i'm not sure how available they are.It's not a toy breed,it's a hound dog,but it doesn't get taller than 17" according to the breed standard.Check this out:

Every dog of any breed can be a barker. I have a very very quiet Italian Greyhound. She is such an awesome little dog, but please do your research on this toy breed. They certainly aren't for everyone and have some major issues if you aren't there to correct them.
i have three dogs, American staffinshire, min pin and daschund hound, and by far the daschund hound id the quietest. the only time he barks is when hes messing(playing)with the min pinWhat is the quietest dog of the toy breeds (small dogs)?
Not sure you are going to find this in a small breed dog. The barking is their defence mechanism. I have a chihuahua that seldom barks, but that is rare with this breed.
The quietest dogs of the toy breeds are the ones who were trained to not bark.



All dogs will bark, as it is in their nature. True, there are some more 'reserved' dog breeds, but any breed can be taught to remain quiet.



A week of use of an anti-bark collar will make many dogs into a mouse, if that is your desire.
My miniature daschund never barked, unless someone was at the door. She was adopted, so I can't say whether she was trained in this way or not.
I have a peke that is very quiet but he weights about 14 lbs. Please check out www.petfinder.com, most of the pets are in foster homes and the foster parents can give you some of the dogs personality traits such as being a talker (barker) etc. To many dogs out there need a home - please consider adoption.
I have nine month old Silky terrier she is not a barker. She is on the small size, she 8lb. I have a special need daughter, and we were looking at pet store. She was six months old, and half prize and sat on my daughter lap. You can start looking in pet stores to see how different puppies are, and different breed. That what I did, but I ended up with my puppy.
