If you have a model that is realistically sized and you don't have the red tip, you stand a chance of being shot if you make a wrong move while handling the weapon in the presence of a cop, for example when you "know" it is a toy and think the shouted instructions to put it down don't apply to you.

Airsoft guns, if you don't want the orange tips, you can paint over with Krylon paint, or remove it.
